This toy takes something from both the male and female worlds, it does not transfer one into the other, or deconstruct in the way that other "gender neutral" toys do. It is designed to entertain the child, to develop their creativity and fine motor skills, while helping them to develop their own way of dealing with gender issues, all without force, expectation or coercion. The child is at least in a play not only a physical but also a cultural constructor from whom we older ones may learn a lot.
