The Ne-Ro project was primarily motivated by the effort to address the environmental burden caused by surface and deep shale mining, specifically by the intention to use shale waste generated during its processing. The aim of the project was to create a new material composed of shale fraction and other admixtures, the properties of which would be suitable for series production. The combination of shale waste with waste kaolin and other additives in the geopolymer made it possible to obtain an agglomerated stone with properties and a texture similar to natural stone. Its advantage is low financial costs for input raw materials, good utility properties and subsequent workability. The uniqueness of the Ne-Ro project is confirmed by the first use of this material in the field of product design at all. Due to the nature of the newly formed shale geopolymer, its physical, chemical and visual parameters, cultivation and breeding were chosen as thematic product categories. The Ne-Ro project is a completely unique example of a comprehensive design approach to environmental issues from the initial idea of solving a specific environmental problem, through unique material and technological experimental development to the implementation of design proposals for utility products, exhibition and media coverage. The Ne-Ro project was nominated for the best exhibition project at the world's largest design show Milan Design Week 2018 in Italy. In the same year, he also received a nomination for the best school exhibition at Designblok 2018 in Prague.
