The author has set a task to herself to create an umbrella, where she also makes all the necessary tools to create it and all the necessary props to make these tools.
(However, for the actual product, she does not consider its function, functionality and its resulting similarity to machine-made umbrellas).
She carefully considered the consistency and limits she imposed on herself beforehand.
Several times she ran into the impossibility of her own task, when something was almost impossible to build. Various points came to the surface and she had to go back to the very the beginning, or to abandon them altogether.
The concepts of creating something and knowing something took on a whole new meaning for the author.
She presents the work unfinished in the middle of the creative process.
She made a fireclay cup, a mold for casting tin from fireclay mass, a clay bowl for cooking bioplastic, a tin umbrella skeleton, a decorative handle made from a mixture of starch, water and tapioca flour, a tool for rough woodworking, and a found wooden handle. The installation also includes all failed experiments such as a cracked bowl and casting mould, scattered 'plastic' parts and unmelted brass filings. The last point, the textile part, was left unfinished.
