The installation at Czech Design Week 2022 presents original tea sets created by students of the Product Design Studio at the Faculty of Art and Design of Jan Evangelista Purkyně University in Ústí nad Labem. The individual concepts confront these ordinary products with serious and atypical forms, theatrical characters or, on the contrary, intimate themes. A traditional phenomenon such as drinking tea, together with a very traditional and timeless assignment within the studio and on the technological level, presents very contemporary results. The individual designs express respect for tradition and for the material that is characteristic of the Northwest, while at the same time providing diverse and contemporary solutions.

The installation The Unbearable Fragility of Drinking is thus a retrospective summary of the best work created in the studio under the direction of designer Jan Čapek over the past few years.
